Ethical banking involves consciousness of how banking practices affect individuals, society and the environment. However, the term “ethical banking” is a broad one which covers a wide range of ideas and concepts. Alumni of the global “Ethics & Trust in Finance for a Sustainable Future” share their insights on this issue: some see ethical banks as having positive duties, while some conceive them as banks “putting people before profits” and others describe them as banks operating around a set of principles used to govern their interactions (eg. transparency).
